It’s the Season of giving … and Jenna Curtis and Teagan Jose, currently in grade 11 at Rand Park High School, are collecting Santa Shoe Boxes for the elderly who are often forgotten during this time. They will be collecting for the residents at Eden Village and the Florama Old Age Home in Roodepoort. If the response is overwhelming we would love to donate to other Old Age Homes in need.

Floroma Old Aged Home is situated at 1 Berlandina Street Roodepoort, on the Western side of the Roodepoort CBD area.
It is a partially subsidised Home and was established in 1953, to provide housing to the elderly residents of Roodepoort, Florida and Maraisburg.
Accommodation
The Home offers affordable accommodation to 66 Frail elderly persons, who need 24 hour nursing care, and 70 independent elderly persons, living in cottages.
Support and Donations
The Home is registered as a Non-Profit Organisation under the Non-Profit Organisation Act 1997 (002—11NPO) and receives a limited subsidy. The Management Committee consists of individual members of the broader community and representatives of various community organisations, and serves as the governing body of the Home.
Policy against discrimination
It is the policy of the Home not to discriminate against any person on any grounds such as race, income, religion or any other.
We are trying to reach a target of 146 boxes at this point in time. The boxes need to be ready by the 6th of December 2020 and around the value of R300 per box.
Some ideas for the boxes are:
Deodorant, soap, toothpaste, body lotions, Vicks, Vaseline, rusks, biscuits, small Christmas cake, face masks, hand sanitiser, tinned food, coffee, milk, word puzzle books, talcum powder, shaving cream and razors (for men), pocket tissues, face cloth, hot chocolate, chocolates, soft sweets or anything else you think would make their Christmas special. No alcohol please.
